What is Pico Financial Services Uganda Limited?
Pico Financial Services Uganda Limited is a Ugandan non-bank institution dedicated to providing accessible, affordable, and reliable financial services to individuals and businesses across Uganda. We are licensed and regulated by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) and focus on serving civil servants, women's groups, SMEs, farmers, and informal sector workers.
What loan products does Pico offer?
Pico offers five core loan products: Civil Servant Loans for Civil Servants (UGX 500,000 to 30 million over 6 to 36 months); Group Loans for Women (UGX 100,000 to 2 million per member with weekly repayment); SME Business Loans (UGX 2 million to 50 million over 3 to 12 months); Invoice Financing (up to 80% of invoice value over 30 to 90 days); and Payday Loans (up to 40% of Net Pay disbursed within 24 to 48 hours).
How do I apply for a Pico loan?
You can apply in three ways: Submit your enquiry online using our Loan Enquiry form; call us on +256 772 362 199; or visit our office at Apartment 2B, 2nd Floor, Rovis Building, Salim Bay Road, Kampala. A loan officer will guide you through the process and inform you of the required documents.
What documents are required to apply?
Required documents vary by loan type. Generally you will need: a valid National ID or passport; recent payslips or proof of income; a letter of introduction from your employer (for Civil Servant Loans); bank statements for the last 3 to 6 months; and any business registration documents (for SME loans). Your Pico loan officer will provide the exact list for your specific product.
How long does loan approval take?
Once all required documents are submitted, most loan applications are processed within 2 to 5 business days. Payday loans can be approved and disbursed within 24 to 48 hours. Your loan officer will keep you updated throughout the process.
How are loan repayments made?
Repayment methods depend on your loan type. For Civil Servant Loans and payday loans, repayment is automatically deducted from your salary through payroll partnerships. For group loans, repayments are made weekly through group meetings. For SME and invoice financing loans, repayments are made via bank transfer or mobile money on agreed dates.
Can I repay my loan early?
Yes, Pico encourages responsible financial behaviour, including early repayment. Please contact your loan officer or call our customer service line to arrange early settlement. Terms for early repayment will be discussed at the time of application.
What happens if I miss a repayment?
Pico works closely with customers who face repayment difficulties. If you are unable to make a scheduled payment, contact us as soon as possible on +256 772 362 199 before the due date. Late payments may attract penalty charges. We prefer to find solutions rather than allow accounts to fall into default.
Is Pico licensed and regulated?
Yes. Pico Financial Services Uganda Limited is fully licensed and regulated by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA). We operate in accordance with the Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders Act, Anti-Money Laundering regulations, and all relevant consumer protection guidelines applicable in Uganda.
How do I report unethical behaviour by a Pico employee?
Pico is committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. If you have experienced or witnessed any unethical, illegal, or improper conduct by a Pico employee or agent, please contact us immediately via email at info@pfsug.com, by calling +256 772 362 199, or by visiting our head office in Kampala. All reports are handled with strict confidentiality.
What interest rates does Pico charge?
Interest rates vary by loan product, loan amount, repayment term, and individual credit assessment. Pico operates in compliance with all applicable Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) guidelines on permissible lending rates for Tier 4 institutions. Your applicable interest rate will always be clearly communicated to you in writing before you are asked to sign any loan agreement. There are no hidden fees — all charges are disclosed upfront.
Does Pico charge compound interest?
No. Pico does not charge compound interest on the outstanding principal of your loan. Interest is calculated on the reducing balance and is clearly stated in your loan offer and repayment schedule before you accept the loan. If you have any questions about how your interest is calculated, your loan officer will explain this in full before you sign any agreement.
What penalties apply for late or missed repayments?
Late or missed repayments may attract a penalty charge, which will be specified in your loan agreement. Persistent default may also result in your repayment history being reported to a licensed credit reference bureau, which can affect your ability to access credit in the future. Pico always prefers to find a solution with clients who are experiencing genuine financial difficulty — if you are struggling to make a payment, contact us as soon as possible before the due date on +256 772 362 199.
What collateral is required for SME Business Loans?
SME Business Loans require collateral security. The type and value of collateral accepted will depend on the loan amount and your business profile, and will be discussed with your Pico loan officer during the assessment process. Common forms of collateral include business assets, land titles, or other acceptable security. Our loan officers will guide you through what is required for your specific application.
